Broken Heart Syndrome

A study published in this week's issue of the New England Journal of Medicine has found that sudden emotional stress can trigger a severe but reversible heart muscle weakness that mimics a heart attack. The condition had been labeled "stress cardiomyopathy" and has also been called "broken heart syndrome."
