Most people are familiar with medical alert jewelry for those "hidden" medical conditions - diabetes, heart problems, drug and food allergies, etc. - that may cause life-threatening emergencies. However, those with mental health disorders such as bipolar disorder, depression or anxiety disorders as well as those who take medications on a regular basis may also want to consider using this tool.

FAQ: Medical Alert IDs

I have been trying to get my husband to wear a bracelet that says See Wallet Card for several years now. Becuase SO MANY meds cannot be taken if you already take an MAOI, I believe this should be a regular practice in the mental health community. I wear one for penicillin. If questioned, someone could say “I’m on some medicine that can cause allergy problems.” and let it go. It’s a very good idea.
