Improving Your Child's Sleep

Insomnia is a significant problem for many with bipolar disorder and this holds for children diagnosed with this disorder as well. Dr. Vincent Iannelli, the About Guide to Pediatrics, writes, “Like adults, children with insomnia have trouble going to sleep, staying asleep or not being well rested after what should be a normal amount of time sleeping. Unfortunately, not getting a good night’s sleep can affect your child’s mood and behavior during the day leading to school and discipline problems.” Dr. Iannelli shares some suggestions for improving your child’s sleep.
