Changing Doctors

Monday September 3, 2007
Finding a new psychiatrist can be very upsetting. Becky shares, “When I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, I went through BIG time denial and many med changes and doctor changes. I just didn't feel comfortable with any of them. I finally found a doctor who has since stabilized me. I am comfortable with this doctor, but I found out he sold his practice and now I do not have a doctor anymore. I am really apprehensive, scared, nervous and sad about finding a new one. I really do not want to tell 'my story' all over again to another doctor. It is very frustrating. This has been a trigger for me. I have become very sad and withdrawn. I do not want to deal with it, so I keep putting it off. But, if I don't find a new doctor soon I will be without meds. I just don't want to deal with it, so I don't!”
