Help Pass Federal Mental Health Parity

Wednesday September 19, 2007
Some states already have parity, meaning that insurance companies must treat mental illnesses the same way they do physical illnesses. Parity on a federal level would require insurance companies in all states to do the same. Think what a difference this would make!

On September 18, the US Senate passed the Mental Health Parity Act of 2007 (S 558). Now the bill moves to the House of Representatives. You can help get this crucial bill passed. Contact your member of Congress and urge them to support immediate House passage of S 558 so that the bill can be sent to the President. An easy way to do this is through the NAMI website at their Legislative Action Center. Scroll down for the message area.

I would love to contact my member of Congress - when I click on your link for Legislative Action I just keep coming back to this page. Maybe others are having the same trouble - is there another way to get there?
