Going Off Medications - Step by Step

Thursday November 20, 2008
We've talked a lot recently on our blog and in our newsletter about people's experiences going off their medications - some bad, some okay. We've also given you a look at people's reasons for stopping - or staying on - their meds.

In 2005 I went off all my meds, under my doctor's supervision, in order to participate in a clinical study of Seroquel for bipolar disorder. These two articles from my I'm Bipolar Journal document my experiences.

Going Off Meds: They Aren't Working Anyway"
Going Off Meds: Benzodiazepine Withdrawal

PS: There is an article in the series sandwiched between the two above articles, Going Off Meds: You Need to be Needed, which quickly talks about the middle phase of the process and then goes on in detail about a big change in my life. Since it is mostly not about stopping medications, I didn't include it above, but of course, feel free to read it!
