Extra Time Off and Wondering What to Do?

Tuesday December 23, 2008
LadyHeather, a member of our Forums, shares, “I just realized that I have 9 days off between the day after Christmas and January 4th and nothing to do with the time. I think I'm going to go crazy or fall into completely inappropriate behavior patterns.”

I know exactly what you mean, LadyHeather. I essentially have the next two weeks off. My first thought was to sleep all day, but I realized that would just serve to make me groggy and glum. So I’ve been focusing on tasks around the house that I usually ignore or wait until the last minute to handle. My Christmas shopping is done; my house is clean and festive. I am actually looking forward to Christmas morning.

How do you handle extra time on your hands? ~ Kimberly

(1) John Thompson says:

Friends friends friends. Despite an inclination to “hide-out” I forced myself to accept invitations and go out. I can polish my rusty social skills, see other’s and listen. It is saving my mind and life right now. And I mean FORCE. After recently losing my Mom, Thanksgiving, It is easy to stay home, wallowing in loneliness. Grief on top of depression can be devastating. Call somebody and if they are occupied, hurry and call somebody else before the phone gets cold. Force yourself.
