Larry Flynt - Publisher and Pornographer

Thursday January 8, 2009
Larry FlyntHustler publisher Larry Flynt hit the headlines today when he and Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis sent out a press release saying that they were asking the federal government for a $5 billion bail out of the pornography industry. “People are too depressed to be sexually active,” Flynt says, “This is very unhealthy as a nation. Americans can do without cars and such but they cannot do without sex.”

Figures show that revenues are down for adult DVD sales and rentals. “With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind,” Flynt says, “It’s time for congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America. The only way they can do this is by supporting the adult industry and doing it quickly.”

While there is no confirmation that Larry Flynt is diagnosed with bipolar disorder, his name is frequently included on internet listings, and his personal history includes behavior consistent with bipolar mania. Read about the man who made big business out of pornography.

Think about it…I’m supposed to pay for Citibanks bailout and then they want me to pay my bill. Right!

GIVE ME A BREAK! I have to pay my bills! It’s bad enough we’re bailing out everyone else- but the porn industry! Absolutely not!

I get it! It’s like asking the goverment for a grant. We could all ask for a bail out (grant). We could ask for bail out money to help us pay for bailing everyone else out. This could be fun.

Duh! Of course it was tongue-in-cheek. Larry Flint has been doing and saying outrageous things to make points for years. The point is – either everybody deserves a bailout, or nobody does.

If Mr. Flint IS serious—and think: a life in every way permeated and immersed in pornography might indeed give way to an unreasonable perspective that comes from a wrecked morality—i should hope his plea is given the dignity it deserves; i.e. none whatsoever. Yes, yes—hurray for the witty Mr. Flint. What a guy, huh? He’s just one laugh after another, that one. Sure, immoral porn is cool for a while, but it’s a white-washed tomb for those who can’t break free. Don McLean made popular the well-heeded lyrics “Wonderful baby, nothin’ to fear. Love whom you will, but doubt what you hear.
They’ll whisper sweet things to make you untrue. So be good to yourself, that’s all you can do.” Let’s rise a little higher than the so-called “sweet things” that make us “untrue.” Why don’t we then find a place in our lives where good, deep, true, moral sex thrives and shows the fake for what it is. Thank you.

Ya know. I am not a porn advocate and i personally think Flynt has one of the most disgusting ( well maybe not anymore) porn mags out there BUT, he has a point.. Lets look at some of the things that are asking for bail outs.. PLEASE! why shouldn’t he? He is right, SEX is a BASIC human need, psychologically speaking.. and everyone is too depressed to meet those needs, no wonder we are a miserable, addicted, unfaithful culture with such a high divorce rate.

(7) Dunn says:

The way I see it, we all got screwed when we bailed out the greedy on Wall Street. We might as well turn it around and let Larry return the favor in a more or less positive way….

If I wanted to tell Larry directly a business idea so I get credit, how do I do it.
