Depression and the Things I Hate Today

Tuesday June 23, 2009
What is bipolar disorder to you? Sunny calls bipolar disorder the monster. Bipolar disorder is so nasty that it takes you in so many ways that you can't really even decide what it is. To Stellablu it is never finishing what she starts.

For me, today, bipolar disorder is a struggle with depression. It is all the things I hate.

Looking 9 months pregnant and it's all fat.
    Feeling overwhelmed.
My face and body in the mirror this morning.
Catching up on work at the cost of having 15 unwashed cat food cans in the sink.
Hot weather. Hot weather. Hot weather.
    My physician-prescribed diet.
    Having a double chin.
    Not getting enough sleep.
Seeing my plants wither from neglect.
    Working.
    Not working.
    Falling farther behind.
    Bipolar depression.
    Myself. ~ Marcia

Depression is one side of the bipolar equation. Clinically it can be defined as the downswing in a mood cycle. It is characterized by profound sadness, dejection or despair. It is an extreme emotional state that impairs daily living. An episode of depression can cause a great deal of disruption and mayhem for the individual and his or her loved ones. So it is important to be familiar with the warning signs of depression.
