Diane McDaniel (aka princessdi) is a member of our forums who, with the help of 16-year old Grant Bromley, created Hope in The Storm: Living with Bipolar. The short film follows Diane's real life struggles with bipolar disorder, but also shows how she has coped with the disorder for the past couple years.
She shares, “This video idea came through a hypomanic episode. It was my desire to speak out about bipolar. I was tired of living in silence. I was tired of going it alone in the 'church'. My girlfriend's son is a young aspiring producer. I pulled him into my vision. We ran with it.
“As I would pop in and out of mood episodes on both sides of the spectrum, I would go full throttle or pull back. It's a risk for me to put something so personal yet so very real out there for all to see.”

After viewing The Storm, Kotila wrote, “Absolutely wonderful. I had to watch this a second time and I'll probably watch it again.” Share your thoughts with Diane.

THANK GOD SOMEONE IS SPEAKING OUT ABOUT THIS. THE COMMUNITY THAT I LIVE IN (200,000 PEOPLE) DOES NOT EVEN HAVE A SUPPORT GROUP THROUGH MHMR. IT’S TIME THIS DISEASE CAME TO THE FOREFRONT. And, if we don’t get this into political action, nothing else will ever be done. SS Disability IS A JOKE – A THREE RING CIRCUS WITH A SIDE SHOW
