The mild antidepressant trazodone has been around for a long time, and is frequently prescribed as a sedative because drowsiness and sleepiness are such frequent side effects. The most common side effects are mild enough to be tolerated well; however, there are some that are more serious. Thus, if you or a loved one takes trazodone, it's important to know whether symptoms being experienced might be side effects of this drug. (Note: an extended release version of trazodone has recently been put on the market under the brand name Oleptro.)
