My name is Laura and I am the Forum host for the Weight Control Program in thie Bipolar Light and Positive Forum. I was diagnosed rapid cycling bipolar 20 years ago after my hysterectomy at the age of 33. I think it really occurred when I was 13, but everyone is strange at that age, so it was chalked up to puberty. I was also diagnosed ADHD last year, and needless to say, I am a very active person.

I am married to a wonderful man named Danny. We met right when I was diagnosed and have been married for 17 years. I have three children from previous marriages: Jonathan, 30, Rachel, 25, and Becky, 23. All of them are out of college (thank God!). My son and his wife Pam live in Minneapolis and my daughters live in New York City. I can't figure out why they didn't want to stay with us (LOL). My dog Charley does live with us - he is our empty nest baby, and even has red hair like my husband.

I have been teaching for 17 years. I taught special education and presently teach an alternative middle school program for "at risk" teens. Almost all of them are ADHD. My principal thinks it is a perfect placement for me. He has been great about everything.
