I was born in the mid 1940's, and began suffering from bipolar disorder in 1968. Six years were effectively lost to BP before I finally checked myself into a hospital in 1974. I got started on Lithium, and have taken it faithfully ever since. Panic attacks and agoraphobia began in 1976, and continue to this day. My wife and I have been married for 24 years. We dated in high school, but she was smart enough to wait until I started on medication before she would consider marrying me!
Our son was murdered by a carjacker in 1992. He was the center of our universe, and his death has changed our lives forever! The stress and anguish over losing him have left me almost housebound due to the panic attacks getting so much worse. The tragedy taught me compassion for others.
