Day One - Monday
Today's start of this diet was not the fantastic kick-off I would have liked. I was home sick today because I of allergies so I pretty much slept through breakfast. About midmorning, I had a low fat mozzarella cheese stick. For lunch, I had a great medley of squash, zucchini, carrots, onions, chicken and pork. It was very yummy and even though I wasnt feeling a hundred percent, I was quite satisfied. However, for dinner my fiancé made a baked spaghetti dish to which I couldnt say, No. Unfortunately the carbs from the pasta greatly spiked my sugar with the subsequent crash and I have been struggling with carb cravings all evening. Tomorrow I am going to work very hard not to eat any carbs.
Day Two - Tuesday
I am so very proud of me today! I went through the entire day without eating carbs. <golf claps> When I got home from work, I was really hungry. At first I reached for the crackers, but I caught myself. I had two low-fat turkey and cheese rolls to hold me over until dinner. Now, as soon as I finish this, I'm going to crawl into bed so the evening munchies cant ambush me. One silly little thing Ive learned that also helps me avoid nighttime snacking is to brush my teeth. I guess I just have it engrained in my head that I dont want to mess up that minty-fresh feeling by eating something. Hey! If it works, why not?
Day Three - Wednesday
I have been struggling with allergies a great deal this week. Today was particularly bad. When I dont feel well, I tend to comfort myself with my favorite foods. All day I wanted french fries and ice cream. I managed for most of the day to not cave, but I did give in to a small bowl of ice cream in the evening. The South Beach Diet teaches that if you simply have to have the special dessert to do so in a small amount. This is what I did.
Day Four - Thursday
I have run into that fun little foible of this diet constipation. I am not a fan of Metamucil so this morning I had some high fiber, very low carb (only 3 grams!) oatmeal by Keto. It is a bit grainy, but the apple cinnamon is good. It helped. Yea!
I am also getting very anxious to weigh myself, but I am determined to hold out until I am at one week.
Day Five - Friday
I gave in this morning and weighed myself. It wasnt a good idea. I hadnt lost any weight at all. The last time I did this diet I had dropped 7 pounds in the first week. Now here I am starting day five and I havent lost a pound. I am very disappointed. Unfortunately, starting the day with frustration was a bad start. By mid-morning I was feeling hungry. I had forgotten to pack my lunch and had to grab something out. I grabbed a hot and pressed Cuban sandwich. It was wonderful, but NOT on the diet. My eating went from bad to worse for the rest of the day.
Day Six & Seven - Saturday & Sunday
My weekend was a disaster as far as the diet was concerned. Having blown things on Friday, I pretty much threw in the towel for the rest of the weekend. The good news is that I didnt gain any weight.
