This was a strange day. I started out feeling better than I had in a long time. My plan for the day was fairly simple: rest and walk. It didn't work out that way.
I got up early, had my Atkins shake late. Worked at the computer and in the yard all morning, because I couldn't walk until after a serviceman had come and gone. I even spent half an hour gathering extra acorns from the yard to take to the squirrels at the office, where there are no oak trees. That was a harder job than you might think for a recuperative person! I was really weary by the time I had a good-sized selection.
I expected the serviceman shortly after 11:00, but he didn't get here until 1:30. By that time I was hungry and tired. I was also upset and angry over an email I had received. One of the squirrels at work had jumped on a coworker (didn't hurt him, scared the squirrel the most), and the big boss had, as a result, forbidden any more squirrel feeding - this came in right after I finished collecting the acorns! This was when I learned just how fragile my good mood was - I got thoroughly angry and then nearly burst into tears. Dashed off a furious email back and then, of course, the man I had been waiting for arrived. We went over the work to be done, and when I came back in I had an email reply to mine that calmed me down again, suggesting we could set up a squirrel feeder away from the door.
THEN I made a huge tuna-apple salad and even added celery and ate every bite, and once I'd seen the workman off, I went straight to bed and again slept till dinner, which was scrambled eggs, cauliflower and half of a whole wheat English muffin. Followed, of course, by four York Mints.
Later I had my tossed salad and then tried something slightly different - lemon riccota crème instead of vanilla or cocoa. I didn't like it much, and it didn't leave my mouth satisfied, so next thing I knew I was hunting for chocolate. I found a box of Estee Sugar Free chocolate fudge candy bars ("not for weight control") and ate one. It was edible. It was chocolate. Finished up the day with a single cheese stick.
Oh well. Tomorrow, back to the office.
Day 3
Breakfast: Atkins Chocolate Royale Shake
Snack: Cheese Stick
Lunch: Chicken-Feta Salad
Special Treat: Dark chocolate covered strawberry - a gift I couldn't pass up!
Snack: Rest of salad, later a cheese stick
Dinner: Hamburger with mayo, asparagus, a small serving of hash brown potatoes (Mom said, "PLEASE can I make these? The only ingredient is potatoes!"), and half a whole wheat English muffin. Then my four York Mints. I suppose it was the potatoes, but I developed a big bellyache after dinner! It was mostly an overstuffed feeling, but had just enough acidity about it that I kept thinking if I ate more it would go away. So after my tossed salad I had FOUR cheese sticks. Didn't help the bellyache. No additional dessert. No munchies in bed (I read The Phantom Tollbooth for awhile, having finished Heinlein's Farmer in the Sky the night before). Guess my body had gotten used to living without potatoes, eh?
