Brick Wall
The Life of a Step-Son

by Chameleon

Talking to you is like talking to a brick wall
There’s no point in trying
When you don’t hear my call
I’m reaching and reaching
Believing the worst
You have to be the winner
You have to be first
It’s not about love
Or teaching wrong from right
It’s all about winning
This parental fight
I AM OMNIPOTENT
I AM IN POWER
YOU WILL OBEY ME
AFRAID, YOU WILL COWER
This is your destiny
This is your joy
Treating a child
Like an abusive play-toy
I’m tired of this quarreling
I’m tired of this pain
I’m tired of arguing with you
When it’s all done in vain
I need to let go now
To take him and run
To carry him to safety
To child’s play and fun
He’s only a baby
Why can’t he just play?
Let a kid be a kid
Let a dog have it’s day
But you’ve never believed in
Live and let live
It’s do as your told
And take back what you give
It’s control, manipulation
It’s the ultimate power
It’s your way or the highway
All sweetness gone sour
I know it’s not right
I know life should be better
And I realize it’s time now
To end all this terror
It’s kill or be killed now
It’s seek and destroy
It’s time to stop playing
Like a child with a toy
He’s not yours to yell at,
He’s not yours to put down
He isn’t a puppet
You can just throw around
He lives and he breathes
Feels joy and feels pain
And he doesn’t deserve
Your dismissal again
Look into his eyes once
And you’ll find me there
To love me is to love him
We come as a pair
If you can’t live by these rules
Then it’s time that we parted
Because this mother and wife
Is tired of being broken-hearted
So now you have a choice to make
To make a change or move on
But you’d better choose soon
Before your wife and son are gone.
