Weight Control Tips of the Week
WEEK 10

If you are not familiar with our Weight Control Program for bipolar people, please read the Introduction or visit Weight Control Central.

This week's tips include snack rationing for love, the fat-burning zone, salmon loaf, and weight control software you could use with your diet and fitness program.

  • Snacking Solutions
Weight Control Guide Jennifer Scott presents these snacking problem-solvers for low-fat dieters.

  • Marcia's Diet Tip
York Mints are NOT a high-fat food, in small doses. Mom puts four (4) individually wrapped York Mints into the pantry before she goes to bed. The next day, those are mine. I know that's all I get, and over time I have adjusted to the limit of four. (But she has to hide the bag!) So get your sweetie, child, parent or roommate to ration the sweets to you. (PS: Four York Mints, small size, have 213 calories and 33 fat calories. Not great. But not a diet-killer, either.)

  • The Truth About the Fat-Burning Zone
Important information for anyone doing aerobics, gym, stationary bike or other exercise where a target heart rate is measured.

  • Recipe of the Week!
    Huntsville Salmon Loaf

Buttermilk makes this a healthy recipe, and of course, salmon is always good for you - the fat it contains is beneficial. My mother suggests substituting EggBeaters or something similar for the eggs to make this even better.

  • Health RunR Performance Diet
This is a comprehensive weight loss companion software. It has a nutrient database of 10,000 foods and lets you track both your diet and your exercise as you work toward your goal. The demo is limited but you'll get a good idea from it whether you want to pay the $39.95 to register.
