Blogs: Personal Experiences

Found here are blogs (online journals) maintained by people who have bipolar disorder. These blogs contain personal experiences and diaries.
Polar Paul's Bipolar Life
"I've written my blog since August of 2004. I was originally diagnosed with bipolar disorder (then called Manic Depression) in 1981. My blog is my day to day dealings with life as affected by bipolar symptoms."
Deborah Gray's Blog
Deborah Gray lived with undiagnosed clinical depression, both major episodes and dysthymia, from childhood through young adulthood. She was finally diagnosed at age 27, and since that time, her depression has been successfully managed with medication and psychotherapy. Deborah believes that information and support are the two things that sustain and empower us in our battle with illness.
Finding Optimism - Health in Response to Mental Illness
This wonderful blog by James Bishop, who has bipolar disorder, is by turns inspirational, humorous, serious and useful. Just a couple of blog titles to look for: "Ways to Insult a Person With Depression" (which will be familiar to almost all of us!) and "My Dog Has a Mental Illness. That Makes Me the Companion Animal" (which is a hoot!).
John McManamy's SharePosts
John McManamy, author of McMan's Depression and Bipolar Web, is a former financial journalist with a law degree. As a means of coming to terms with his illness, he devotes all his efforts to researching and writing about depression and bipolar disorder. This is one of his blogs; he also writes Knowledge Is Necessity, which is linked in this list as well.
Bipolar and Anxiety Diary of Annie
"The gift of life is very precious and I believe I am VERY lucky to really understand this as I am only 28. People reach old age and even die without really understanding this. I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder last year but believe I have suffered from Psychiatric Illness for most of my life. I feel better now than I ever have done!!"
Bipolar Barbie
"Diagnosed bipolar 15 years ago - this is my blog. I blog as a creative exercise for myself but if it resonates with someone else, all the better. Stop by if you'd like."
Bipolar Parenting
Stacey Adams writes, "This was mostly started as a support and education blog. Everyday is a learning experience and I feel each day I grow as a parent and that I am better equipped to him myself more than I ever have been able to."
bloggo chicago
Barb shares, "i wanted to cut myself. the emotional pain i felt, from the fact that the second set of ECT treatments didn't work, was overwhelming and i began to feel hopeless about my recovery. like the times i cut in the past, i felt that inflicting physical pain upon myself would somehow decrease the emotional pain."
Life (even a Bipolar one) Happens
Stormy shares, "Life happens. Wherever you go, there you are. You can't run away from your problems. They always catch up to you. Let's take a journey down my life's path and see what we find. Here, drink the bottle that has the tag 'Drink Me' then we'll be able to fit through the door."
My Bipolar Life
The Queen writes, “Hi all!! This blog will be about my life living with several mental and physical illnesses that seem to consume my life. These things tend to consume a lot of my time because I can't always function the way I would like. I am really looking forward to having this blog as an outlet for my personal struggles.”
Paddy
“I’ve been an avid blogger for a few months and I think my manic self just seeps through it. I’ve often addressed issues linked to my disorder. It’s an attempt to catch those words which fly so fast. Writing a blog has made me feel so much less frustrated.”
