Definition:
Bipolar VI Disorder - or BP VI for short - is unipolar mania, meaning episodes of mania without episodes of depression. This condition is very rare. Colleen Sullivan, founder of BipolarWorld, says, "The theory for classifying this among the 'bipolar' disorders is that almost every manic will eventually crash into a major depressive episode." If unipolar mania first appears after age 40, careful screening for a medical cause should be performed.
