Definition:
A chronic illness is one that persists over a long period of time without many changes or recurs frequently. Unipolar depression is generally considered to be chronic. The opposite of chronic is acute.

Examples:
Fibromyalgia is a condition whose symptoms are chronic muscle pain, fatigue, weakness and tenderness at specific points throughout the body.
