Definition: BP is a common acronym in health fields. In the area of general medicine BP most frequently denotes blood pressure. In the mental health literature, BP usually stands for bipolar disorder. It may also be used to reference borderline personality disorder.

BP (also known as bipolar disorder or manic depression) is a disease; it is a medical condition that causes psychological problems to such a degree that daily functioning is hampered by the symptoms. The most prominent symptoms of BP include extremes of mood known as mania and depression.
