Definition:
Depakote is an epilepsy medication used as a mood stabilizer in the treatment of bipolar disorder. It is also sold under the brand name Depakene, and is available generically as Valproic Acid. Another generic name is Divalproex Sodium.

Depakote is used in epilepsy as an anticonvulsant. It is currently the most commonly prescribed mood stabilizer in the United States.
