Definition:
Priapism is a persistent, often painful erection of the penis. There is also a condition called clitoral priapism in women. Priapism can occur as a somewhat rare side effect of some psychiatric medications including Desyrel (trazodone), Zyprexa (olanzapine), Risperdal (Risperidone), Clozaril (clozapine) and others.
