Definition:
Psychoanalytic therapy uses many of the principles of psychoanalysis, but the therapeutic use of the term psychoanalysis implies a talking therapy of great frequency (several times a week) often utilizing the couch. Psychoanalytic therapy can imply a less intense, rigorous or rigid application of this structure, but governed by similar underlying principles.
