Definition: Subsyndromal is a term that refers to symptoms of a disorder that fall just short of the requirements for a diagnosis of that disorder or illness. As it relates to bipolar disorder, this descriptor also may be used to reference symptoms that don’t quite meet the requirements to be considered an episode of bipolar disorder.
