The Compassionate Friends

The mission of The Compassionate Friends is to assist families in the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child and to provide information to help others be supportive.

Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health

The Federation is a national parent-run organization focused on the needs of children and youth with emotional, behavioral, or mental disorders and their families. Memberships start at $20.

Mental Help Net

This online mental health community has over 12,000 members and offers more resources and services than can possibly be listed in a few lines. Definitely worth a visit!

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

NAMI is a self-help, support and advocacy organization with over 170,000 members. Membership in NAMI costs a minimum of $25, but even non-members can find solid information at their website.

National Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA)

DBSA (formally the National Depressive Manic Depressive Association) strives to educate people concerning the nature of depressive and manic-depressive illness; foster self-help; eliminate discrimination; improve access to care; advocate for research. Memberships start at $20; the website is valuable to non-members.

National Foundation for Depressive Illness, Inc.

NAFDI was formed to educate and inform the public, professionals, and patients about Depressive Illness, its consequences and its treatability, and to promote sharply focused programs of research, education, and treatment innovation.

National Institute of Mental Health

NIMH's mission includes fostering better understanding of effective diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of mental disorders and supporting research on interventions to prevent mental illness or to reduce the frequency of recurrent episodes.

National Mental Health Association

The NMHA, through its national office and more than 330 affiliates nationwide, is dedicated to improving the mental health of all individuals and achieving victory over mental illnesses.
