How I Get Myself Moving
I try to drag myself out of bed, and get on my computer and go on to depression forums or chat rooms. That usually gets my mind going at least.
Also making sure to take my medications - that is a major one, because when you're that down you just don't feel like it.
What Helps Me Keep Going Once I Get Started
Listening to Music helps or watching a favourite TV show.
I try to watch a comedy something to get me to laugh.
I also try to set goals of things I wish to accomplish such as do laundry, sweep kitchen...
Then another thing is that I make myself take a shower and that is a big help.
Lessons Learned
- They help me cope and not just lay in bed all day, because they are things that I like to do and in a sense forcing myself to do something is important.
What are the short-term benefits?
I am not dwelling on my own depression, I am thinking about ways to answer others in the chat room or forum.
What are the long-term benefits?
I think that would be that it paves the way for me to do more and more and want to do more and more and be able to set goals that I can reach.
What adjustments did you have to make as time passed?
I would say I had to do more - I had to motivate myself to clean the house for example.
What else have you found that would help others?
I found that going on these depression forums are a BIG help- because your not just deep into your own depression your reaching out to others and I think that is very important.
