Lunesta for Chronic Insomnia

On April 24, 2005, Sepracor Inc. began advertising Lunesta. This medication was approved by the FDA in December 2004 as a non-benzodiazepine hypnotic agent used to treat insomnia. Their web site offers, "The scientists who developed Lunesta (eszopiclone) set out to find a safe and effective way to give people a restful night's sleep; one where people could fall asleep quickly, stay asleep through the night with fewer interruptions and wake up feeling refreshed.
