Lamtical also has an antidepressant effect.
Pfizer has sent a newsletter out saying Zoloft should only be taken at the most one year unless directed by a doctor….
And from my horrible tardive dystonia I got from it in the form of years of teeth grinding and hundreds of dollars for broken teeth and dental bills, and facial muscle clenching which drives me crazy and the only thing which will stop it is expensive botox treatments, I would be careful in taking it long term
and it is an ssri which can throw a bipolar into a manic phase. But drugs work differently on different people. It’s up to each person to dedide if they want to chance the permanant damage when taking these drugs in my opinion. I wish I had never heard of ssri’s, nor let that doctor talk me into taking it when I kept objecting.

I was on Zoloft for nearly two years with no problems until it stopped working for me. I have since been on Lexapro for many years, with no signs of tardive dystonia. The risk for this disorder is actually quite small, and should have been recognized by your provider immediately. I’m sorry you’ve had to go through this anguish.

I have spent thousands in dental work because of the damage caused by taking Zoloft. Had I know of this side affect – I woulod have never stated taking Zoloft. I stopped taking Zoloft a few years ago, but the hidden dental damage is still showing up.
