BIPOLAR DIDORDER IS: Losing what was ME at the tender age of 20, and living medicated through three hospitalizations, until I reach the giddy old age of 59. I had my dream job at 20 - working in the U.S. Senate in D.C., and losing it ALL (fiance, first apartment, identify), until I was finally diagnosed at 30 with bipolar disorder. It is flights of fancy and delusions of grandeur and spirituality that STILL dominate my subconscious, especially when I am with my bipolar friends. I wish I COULD go back to 1968 and START ALL OVER AGAIN. Finally found out (I’m adopted), that my maternal grandfather was parnoid schizophrenic, so I was doomed from the beginning - my genes are in CONTROL. Bipolar disorder had become the “designer disease” of the Millenium - there are more people, and children, diagnosed now than ever before. It seems if you don’t have it, then you DO know someone who does. GIVE ME BACK MY LIFE…
