Abilify / Aripiprazole Side Effects

Abilify - generic name aripiprazole - is an atypical antipsychotic medication sometimes prescribed to treat schizophrenia and psychotic features of bipolar and schizoaffective disorders. People taking Abilify should be aware of the potential side effects of this drug.

Abilify/Aripiprazole Side Effects:

Check with your doctor if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome:

Common: Headache; nausea; constipation; anxiety; restlessness; weakness; nervousness; rash; sleepiness or unusual drowsiness; insomnia; unable to sleep; vomiting; weight gain; akathisia (sense of inner restlessness or need to move);

Less Common: Blurred vision; coughing; fever; runny or stuffy nose; sneezing; tremor

Always notify your doctor if you experience any of these side effects of Abilify:

Rare: Convulsions; difficulty in breathing; fast heartbeat; high fever; high or low blood pressure; increased sweating; loss of bladder control; severe muscle stiffness; sudden loss of consciousness; unusual tiredness; unusually pale skin; impaired memory

Overdose Effects - Always Notify Doctor:

Sleepiness or unusual drowsiness; nausea or vomiting; weakness; dilated pupils; changes in heartbeat; uncontrollable movements; confusion; seizures; losing consciousness
