Bipolar Disorder runs in my family, so I was not too surprised when my doctor told me that I had it, in July 2001. When I was released from the hospital, I settled in and within a couple days I was on the computer looking for anything about BP in adults. I was familiar with bipolar and children but needed more information for me, which is when I found the bipolar.about.com site. I have been a regular ever since.

I was a Kindergarten teacher by profession. I live with my husband and children -- our daughters are in various stages of leaving the nest, but my son will be here for a few more years. My third daughter was diagnosed BP in 5th grade. My son has Language Impairments, Auditory Disorder, Learning Disability and is ADD, Gifted and bipolar. Our other two daughters appear symptom-free. It's a noisy household, so when I need to hide out from family shenanigans, you will find me in the cafe of my favorite bookstore or somewhere on Bipolar.About.com.
