Stormy SheWolf

My name is Stormy. I was diagnosed with Bipolar I with Ultradian cycling when I was 17, right after the birth of my first son. It was such a relief to have a name finally for what was going on with me. Since then I have also been diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder (used to be called Multiple Personality Disorder), Intermittent Explosive Disorder, Agoraphobia, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder and Anxiety/Panic Disorder, and I also suffer with severe migraines. Quite a plateful, but I always try to remember that I am not my disorders - rather, my disorders are just a part of who I am. I try very hard not to allow the disorders to rule me. Sometimes it is very difficult, but I manage to get through it with my commitment to my treatment plan, staying on my medications and going to therapy.

I believe I was put in this life cycle and given all that I have in order to help others. I want to help as many people in my lifetime as I possibly can and in any way that I can. I love people, and I love making them happy or just being there for them. It is my calling, you could say.

I'm married to my childhood sweetheart and we have three teenaged sons. Our oldest will be 18 this year (2004) and flying from the nest soon (I'm already feeling empty nest syndrome) and our other two boys are 15 and 13.

We currently have four dogs, two royal ball pythons, two aquariums (55-gallon and 35-gallon) - all indoors - and then living outside we have a few cats. Can you tell we're animal lovers? Especially me - I've got my license as a Wildlife Rehabilitationist and I am often raising orphaned wildlife or nursing sick or injured wildlife and releasing them back into the wild. We've always got animals around us.

When I found the About Bipolar Disorder community I was at the end of my rope. I had fallen into a pit so deep that I couldn't see light anymore. That is when Sojourner and Firesong grabbed me and pulled me out. They saved my life and introduced me to this fabulous community that is overflowing with understanding, warmth, love and compassion. You won't find a better home anywhere else in cyberspace.

You will find me all over all three forums in our online community, and don't ever hesitate to call on me if I can help you with something or you just want to talk. I'm a good listener, and I'll never leave you standing by yourself. I'm here for everyone.

Oh yeah, I like to read and I like to write, and you can always find me on the Coping and Communications forum in the Creative Expressions folder if you don't feel like hunting for me anywhere else, and also in the Signatures folder since I am one of the signature artists here as well. But as I said in the beginning, I'm all over the place here. I can't help myself. LOL.

I hope to meet everyone that comes here at one time or another.
