Alogia

Definition:
  1. Alogia is the inability to speak because of mental deficiency, mental confusion, or aphasia.
  2. Alogia is one of the "negative" symptoms of schizophrenia, where it may take the form of speaking very little or a lack of spontaneous content in conversation, called "poverty of speech."
Pronunciation: uh-LOH-jeeuh
Examples:

Conversation in normal speech: Do you have a job? Yes, I've worked as a cashier at White Hen for six years.
Conversation with alogia: Do you have a job? Yes. Where do you work? White Hen. What do you do there? I'm a cashier. How long have you worked there? Six years.
