Definition:
Euphoria, in a non-medical sense, means a feeling of great happiness or well-being. When a person is euphoric because of happy or exciting life events, it is a wonderful state of mind. In bipolar mania and hypomania, however, a state of euphoria is generally not connected to anything happening in the person's life, but is exaggerated by changes in brain chemistry and is considered an abnormal mood state.
Pronunciation: yoo-FOR-ee-uh
Also Known As: exhilaration, elation, joyfulness
Common Misspellings: euforia, euphorea
Examples:
After the first time Richard kissed me, I was in a state of euphoria for days. After I started taking Prozac, I again experienced euphoria, even though nothing in my life had changed.
